Economic democracy<\/p>\n
In the context of the first long-term development cycle (1969-
\n1994), the matter of the implementation of the principles of
\neconomic democracy contained in Article 33 of our Constitution
\nhas been a frequent subject of discussion among economic
\nobservers and legal experts.<\/p>\n
This is caused among other things by the existence of
\ndifferent interpretations. Therefore the general impression has
\nbeen that those principles are not entirely being put into
\npractice. It is often said that a shift has occurred in the
\ninterpretation of our principles of economic democracy, which
\ndictates that a state of welfare should be attained for all.<\/p>\n
Such differences in interpretation are made possible by the
\nfact that there are no clear-cut formal definitions of what we
\nunderstand by the phrase \"fields of production that are important
\nto the state and control the livelihood of the people\". It is
\ngenerally understood that these sectors, whatever they are, must
\nbe controlled by the state.<\/p>\n
It is odd that although we are against the system of free-
\nflight liberalism because it is contrary to our principles of
\neconomic democracy, we do not have any law capable of countering
\nthe tendency for economic power to become concentrated in the
\nhands of individuals.<\/p>\n
At present it is becoming more and more unclear which \"fields
\nof production that control the livelihood of the people\" must be
\ncontrolled by the state and which ones can be run by private
\nbusiness.<\/p>\n
