The South Jakarta Administrative City Government has stated that the
economic census will form the basis of development in the region for the
next 10 years. “The results of this census are very important for all of
us in formulating development plans, especially in the South Jakarta
region for the next 10 years,” said South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo
in Jakarta on Tuesday. Syafrin said the 2026 economic census is a
national programme aimed at providing accurate basic economic data as a
foundation for policy formulation, planning, and development evaluation.
He explained that all regional apparatus organisations must provide full
support for the implementation of the census. The provision of accurate
and up-to-date data is key to ensuring that every development policy is
truly data-based. Therefore, he advised census officers to carry out
their duties with a humanist approach. According to him, good
communication will encourage the public to provide information honestly
and openly. “If the officers’ communication is poor, the public may be
reluctant to receive them and provide information. Once again, the data
from this census is very much needed for future planning,” he said.
According to him, the officers will conduct door-to-door data collection
by combing through business buildings to record business actors and
their business activities. “To support this activity, the South Jakarta
BPS has prepared officers equipped with assignment letters,
identification cards, area maps, and official vests so that respondents
are confident in the officers’ legality,” said Akhmad. He added that the
completeness of these attributes is expected to increase public trust,
so that business actors are willing to receive the officers and provide
accurate data. Thus, it is hoped that all parties, especially the
public, can support the implementation of the census, as similar data
collection will only be conducted again in 2036. “The data collected
through the 2026 Economic Census will serve as an important basis for
formulating future development policies. We hope the public can actively
participate in providing correct data,” he said.
",
