East Papua regency seeks more planes<\/p>\n
JAYAPURA, Papua: The administration of Puncak Jaya is considering
\nhiring planes from a Canadian and a New Zealand airline, to help
\nit break the isolation of the East Papua regency.<\/p>\n
Puncak Jaya regent Elieser Renmaur said over the weekend that
\nhe hoped to add the flight frequency to and from the regency now
\nserved by a number of small sized Twin Otter planes.<\/p>\n
He did not say which Canadian or New Zealand airline the
\nregency approached or what planes they planned to hire, but said
\nthey were looking for planes bigger than the Twin Otter.<\/p>\n
So far Puncak Jaya has no airport on which larger planes like
\na Hercules or Fokker 27 could land, even though it relies on air
\ntransportation. The dependence on small planes is driving up the
\ncost of various products sold in Puncak Jaya capital Mulia.<\/p>\n
Now the regency also plans to build a road connecting it with
\nJayawijaya. The planned road, Elieser said, would link Mulia with

YOGYAKARTA: The world's longest market stretching some 23
\nkilometers is set to open on Tuesday (today) along the main road
\nof the Kulongprogo regency in Yogyakarta.<\/p>\n
The non government organization Fortuna in cooperation with
\nthe Kulongprogo administration said that it wanted to present the
\nworld's longest market to promote local various products.<\/p>\n
\"Through this event we want to promote handicraft products,
\nagricultural commodities and other various local made products,\"
\nsaid a member of the market's organizing committee Hermanto on
\nMonday.<\/p>\n
He said the market would open for 17 days starting Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Local vendors and those from outside the regency were free to
\njoin and display their products at the designated areas along the
\nroad, Hermanto said.<\/p>\n
The market would start from the Bantar bridge in the Sentolo
\ndistrict and end in the district of Temon, covering a distance of

MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The Red Cross office at the South
\nSulawesi capital Makassar have collected 300 bags of blood
\ndonations from locals who want to help Iraqi war victims.<\/p>\n
\"When the war in Iraq raged, the Muslim and non Muslim
\ncommunity here came to the South Sulawesi Red Cross office to
\nhave their blood taken as a show of solidarity toward the
\noppressed people of Iraq,\" said the province's Red Cross head

Thousands of Iraqi civilians have been killed or injured in

JAMBI, Jambi: Police here have arrested an alleged drug dealer
\nwhom they suspect of being a member of a network selling drugs in
\nmajor cities in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Jambi Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Bambang Sudarisman said on
\nMonday that Ali Haryono, 52, was arrested in his hotel room in
\nthe city last Sunday.<\/p>\n
Police found in his possession 54 ecstasy pills and three
\ngrams of shabu shabu or crystal metamphetamine.<\/p>\n
\"We'll keep questioning him, because so far he has not told us
\nwhere he obtained the drugs,\" Bambang said.<\/p>\n
He said that Ali was likely a professional drug dealer, noting
\nthat he had appeared calm throughout the arrest.<\/p>\n
Suspecting that Ali might be part of a network operating in
\nmajor cities, he said the police would check whether his name
