East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas\u2019ud has formally decided to return\nthe new official vehicle procured from the amended 2025 regional budget\n(APBD Perubahan). The vehicle, valued at Rp 8.49 billion, had sparked\nconsiderable public outcry on social media.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Faisal, Head of the East Kalimantan Communication and\nInformation Services (Diskominfo), stated that this decision reflects\nthe Governor\u2019s responsiveness to social dynamics in the region.\nAccording to Faisal, the strategic decision was made after extensive\nconsultation with various state oversight institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Governor carefully considered input from the Ministry of Home\nAffairs, the Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Supreme Audit Board. He\nalso directly heard concerns from community leaders and religious\nfigures. As a leader committed to his mandate, he chose to prioritise\nharmony and public trust over executive privileges,\u201d Faisal said in\nSamarinda, as reported by Antara on Sunday, 1 February 2016.<\/p>\n

However, Faisal confirmed that the vehicle had never been used on\nEast Kalimantan roads. \u201cThe unit remains at the East Kalimantan Liaison\nOffice in Jakarta. Since it has not yet been used for operations, the\nGovernor has ordered the Budget User Authority (KPA) and the\nCommitment-Making Official (PPK) to immediately process its return,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
He disclosed that administrative cancellation procedures began on\nFriday. The supplier, CV Afisera Samarinda, reportedly demonstrated\ncooperation and understanding of the developing situation.<\/p>\n
Under applicable legal procedures, the supplier is required to refund\nthe sum of Rp 8,499,936,000 to the regional treasury within a maximum of\n14 days following unit return.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, Rudy Mas\u2019ud will return to using his personal vehicle\nto support his official duties as the top official in East\nKalimantan.<\/p>\n
