East Java to hold travel expo<\/p>\n
SURABAYA: East Java will hold Majapahit Travel Fair '99 to
\nattract more foreign tourists to the province following the
\nsuccess of the Bali Travel Mart in June, a spokesman for the
\nregional tourist service said.<\/p>\n
\"At least five airlines have confirmed they will bring tour
\noperators from other countries to the fair, which will be held
\nhere from Nov. 8 to 11,\" Wayan Yona, the head of the regional
\ntourist service, said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\"Most of the visitors will be accommodated by Casa Grande, an
\ninternational four and five-star hotel association,\" he said as
\nquoted by Antara.<\/p>\n
The airlines involved in the event are Indonesian flag carrier
\nGaruda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines, Royal Brunei, Thai Air and
\nEva Air, Wayan said, adding the fair would be held at the Westin
\nHotel.<\/p>\n
Various tourist attractions in the province will be promoted
\nto the foreign tour operators, including Mt. Bromo, Batu, an
\napple-producing region in Malang, and Plengkung beach in
\nBanyuwangi, he said.<\/p>\n
A seminar on tourism featuring former minister of tourism,
\npost and telecommunications Joop Ave as the keynote speaker will
\nbe held in conjunction with the event, he said, adding that East
\nJava's handicrafts and traditional arts would be displayed during
\nthe event.<\/p>",
