        "content": "<p>Surabaya (ANTARA) - The Governor of East Java, Khofiferous Indar\nParawansa, has opened opportunities for synergy with the provincial\nbranch of the Association of Indonesian Muslim Scholars (ICMI) to\nstrengthen research and innovation in addressing community issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are opening as much space as possible to synergise with ICMI. Let\nus utilise scholarship as a strength to solve various problems in\nIndonesia,\u201d said Khofifah in a statement received in Surabaya on\nMonday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Khofifah, East Java possesses great potential to become\na hub for knowledge development due to its significant food security,\nnatural resources, and substantial human resources.<\/p>\n<p>She stated that the East Java Provincial Government is prepared to\nfacilitate collaborative spaces so that university research results do\nnot remain confined to academic environments but can be developed into\ninnovations applied for the public interest.<\/p>\n<p>Khofifah noted that East Java is home to 7,347 Islamic boarding\nschools (pesantren) with approximately 660,000 students (santri), as\nwell as more than 41,000 teachers (ustadz and ustadzah), all of whom\nconstitute part of the region\u2019s human resource strength.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEast Java can be described as a complete package. As a National Food\nBarn with diverse natural resources, East Java is also one of the hubs\nfor high-quality human resources in Indonesia,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Arif Satria, the General Chairman of the Central ICMI and Head of the\nNational Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), stated that the\npotential of natural and intellectual resources in East Java can serve\nas a foundation for strengthening evidence-based scientific\npolicies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEast Java is rich in natural resources and rich in intellect. Many\ntop universities are located in East Java. I believe this is a very\nsignificant strength,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Arif expressed hope that ICMI East Java could become a strategic\npartner to the government in promoting the mastery of science and\ntechnology (Iptek), ensuring that the community does not merely act as\nusers but is also capable of developing technology.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Vice Governor of East Java, Emil Elestianto Dardak,\nexpressed his hope that the presence of ICMI would be marked not only by\nthe size of the organisation but also by the impact of its service to\nthe community.<\/p>",
