JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The East Jakarta Transport Sub-Department
(Sudinhub) is currently reviewing the application of official parking on
Jalan Matraman Raya, including around the East Metro Jakarta Police
Station and Jatinegara Health Centre. “It is still under review (the
implementation of official parking),” stated the Head of Operations
Section of the East Jakarta Transport Sub-Department, Emiral, when
confirmed on Friday (8/5/2026). The review is being conducted to assess
community needs while reorganising parking spots that have been deemed
chaotic so far. He explained that under the regulations, parking
management aims to realise safe, orderly, smooth, and integrated parking
services with community activity centres. According to Emiral, the
Matraman Raya area features several public activity points such as
places of worship, health facilities, post offices, the police station,
and trading centres. However, due to the lack of organisation, parking
conditions in the location are often irregular. “There are activity
centres like churches, hospitals, post offices, police station, culinary
hubs, markets. But because they are not yet organised, it becomes
chaotic. If organised later, it should be neat. But it is still under
review,” he said. Emiral emphasised that field officers routinely
conduct supervision, including in front of the East Metro Jakarta Police
Station, which is one of the dense vehicle spots. “In front of the
police station, it is still being regulated. We collaborate with the
police’s Propam every morning for plotting along Jalan Matraman,” he
said. He added that on Friday morning, officers took action against
several violating vehicles, from tyre deflation to towing. “There are
several vehicles that were deflated, some were towed and taken to the
Sub-Department. Those towed were also fined by the police,” he said.
This situation causes traffic on Jalan Matraman Raya, especially around
the police building to the Jatinegara Market area, to become congested.
Although some vehicles are no longer visible at the main point in front
of the police station, several vehicles are still found parked at other
points, including around the post office and Jatinegara Health
Centre.
",
