        "content": "<p>The East Jakarta City Government is strengthening food resilience and\nself-sufficiency through the utilisation of available land within school\nenvironments.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I have held a focus group discussion (FGD) on how to harness the\npotential of school land for food security in East Jakarta,\u2019 said Taufik\nYulianto, Head of the East Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and\nAgriculture (KPKP) Sub-department, to ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Taufik, schools possess significant potential to support\nfood security programmes because their land tenure is relatively secure\nand directly owned by educational institutions. Beyond producing food\ncommodities, the initiative also aims to cultivate awareness and a\nculture of farming among students.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We hope that the community and students can become agents of change\nwho spread the habit of utilising land and growing food at their own\nhomes. In this way, the acceleration of the food security programme will\nhave a more tangible impact,\u2019 Taufik stated.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that if approximately 30 per cent of the total schools could\noptimally utilise their available land for agricultural activities, it\nwould provide substantial assistance. \u2018That is what we must continue to\nencourage,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Taufik also highlighted the crucial role of teachers in the\nprogramme\u2019s success. He emphasised that teachers with a strong\nunderstanding and commitment are essential to passing on knowledge and\nenthusiasm to the students. \u2018The key is consistency and effort in\nrunning this programme, so the benefits can be felt in the long term,\u2019\nhe added.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion involved 30 participants from various sectors,\nincluding academia, the business community, mass media, and\nrepresentatives from educational institutions and Islamic boarding\nschools.<\/p>",
