Jakarta \u2014 The East Jakarta municipal government has closed two access\npoints to Cawang Urban Forest in Kebon Pala, Makasar, East Jakarta,\nfollowing the discovery of contraceptive devices within the area.<\/p>\n
The discovery was made when a team from the Sub-agency of Parks and\nUrban Forests, together with Makasar District officials, conducted a\nsite inspection to seal the access routes to the urban forest.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe found several contraceptive devices inside. We don\u2019t know what\nthey were being used for, and we hope to work together to maintain this\npark so it can be used for positive activities,\u201d said Makasar District\nHead Dimas Prayudi at Cawang Urban Forest on Friday (23 February\n2026).<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are two points that we are attempting to close permanently\ntoday by concreting them, working together with the parks sub-agency.\nAfter that, there will be maintenance and attention to the park so its\nfunction can be maximised,\u201d Dimas stated.<\/p>\n
In addition to closing the access points, the government will carry\nout further improvements to restore the function of the green space as\nan optimal public area.<\/p>\n
To enhance surveillance, the East Jakarta municipal government will\ninstall additional lighting around the area, including spotlights.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe road maintenance team will add lighting so activities here are\nalso visible from outside. Two spotlights will be installed,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
The municipal government will also conduct joint patrols involving\nthe Civil Service Police, police, and the military to prevent deviant\nactivities in the area.<\/p>\n
Previously, a viral video on social media showed a group of men\nentering Cawang Urban Forest located on DI Panjaitan Street, Kebon Pala,\nMakasar, East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The video was posted by Instagram account @ijoeel<\/span> and stated that the area is\nfrequently used as a gathering point for men at night.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know why this place is often used for men to gather. I don\u2019t\nknow what kind of gathering it is,\u201d said the video recorder in the\npost.<\/p>\n The recorder also noted that such activities frequently occur in the\nearly morning hours.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know what they intend to do. Every night after 01:00 hours,\nthey enter the park without knowing what they want to do. Yet this park\nis dark,\u201d the video recorder said.<\/p>\n The East Jakarta municipal government emphasised that the steps of\nclosing access points, adding lighting, and conducting regular patrols\nare intended to ensure the park\u2019s function as a green space is\nmaintained and used for positive activities by the community.<\/p>",
