        "content": "<p>Earthquake near Ambon kills five<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Five people were killed, one person is missing<br>\nand scores of others were injured when an earthquake measuring<br>\n6.5 on the Richter scale hit Falabisahaya village on Mangole<br>\nisland in the North Maluku regency on Sunday night, Antara<br>\nreported.<\/p>\n<p>The casualties were workers at the Barito Pacific Group timber<br>\ncompany, which operates on this island located some 300<br>\nkilometers northwest of the Maluku capital of Ambon.<\/p>\n<p>The victims were identified as Kusuma Dewi, Maria Pinangkaan,<br>\nJimris Pattirany, Andi Rahayanti and Thamrin Maramis, according<br>\nto the news agency.<\/p>\n<p>Rescue workers were still searching for more victims, while<br>\nrelief has been dispatched from Ambon.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the injured were reported in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We have coordinated with the Navy to help evacuate those with<br>\nserious injuries because of the limited capacity of the<br>\nFalabisahaya community health center,&quot; said Maluku Vice Governor<br>\nPaula Renyaan. Renyaan is in charge of the relief operations.<\/p>\n<p>Medical teams, food and emergency tents have also been<br>\nairlifted to the area, she said.<\/p>\n<p>The news agency said that so far there are five known<br>\nfatalities. One villager is missing, 11 suffered serious injuries<br>\nand dozens other suffered slight wounds.  As many as 52 buildings<br>\nand houses in the village were damaged and 21 were destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>Three buildings of the Barito Pacific Group&apos;s timber company<br>\ncollapsed, and four other buildings and 30 housing units were<br>\ndamaged.<\/p>\n<p>Antara quoted Hendra Gunawan, Head of the Manado<br>\nMeteorological and Geophysical Agency, as saying that the<br>\nepicenter of the earthquake was situated at 1.97 degrees south<br>\nlatitude and 125.14 degrees east longitude at a depth of some 65<br>\nkilometers.<\/p>\n<p>The earthquake was felt in North Sulawesi&apos;s capital of Manado,<br>\nsome 300 kilometers to the north of Mangole, and in several other<br>\nislands near Central Sulawesi.
