The Eid 2026 season is becoming increasingly felt during the middle\nof Ramadan. Early indications of people returning to their hometowns are\nalready visible, including those who are getting an early start to avoid\nprice hikes as Eid approaches.<\/p>\n
Rina, 27, one of the prospective passengers heading to Semarang,\ndeliberately took leave at the beginning of Ramadan. She believes\nreturning home early is a solution to avoid difficulty obtaining\ntickets.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, I deliberately took leave at the beginning of Ramadan. The\nreason is that when it gets closer to Eid, tickets are usually hard to\nfind and expensive. Besides, I also miss the atmosphere of fasting at\nhome. For the last 4 years I have been fasting in Jakarta because of\nwork,\u201d said Rina at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, Saturday\n(28\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to her, breaking the fast together with family is the\nmoment she misses the most during her time away from home. She admitted\nthat such an atmosphere is difficult to replicate if she had to break\nfast alone away from home.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I miss the most is breaking the fast with family. Usually my\nmother has cooked various dishes since the afternoon. In Jakarta, I\nusually break the fast alone in my boarding house,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Similar sentiments were expressed by Wiwid, 34, a migrant worker from\nYogyakarta. She decided to return home at the beginning of Ramadan after\nfive years without returning due to work commitments.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had the intention since last year, and it seems this year I\u2019ll\ngo home during Ramadan. It\u2019s been 5 years since I\u2019ve gone home because\nof work. I also want to accompany my parents,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She admitted that sharing sahur (pre-dawn meal) with family is a\nstrong reason for returning home earlier this year. \u201cWhat I miss the\nmost is being woken up by my mother for sahur. The first few weeks felt\nsad fasting alone,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Besides this, she missed the sense of community in her village,\nespecially after Tarawih prayers. \u201cAfter Tarawih, villagers don\u2019t\nusually go straight home, but chat first. There\u2019s a sense of\ntogetherness that I rarely feel in Jakarta,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Irma, 29, a retail shop worker planning to return to\nBandung, said returning home during Ramadan has become her habit. She\nfinds it difficult to get leave during the Eid period because of her\nwork.<\/p>\n
\u201cI work in a retail shop, so I usually can\u2019t get leave when it gets\nclose to Eid because the shop is busy with customers. That\u2019s why I\u2019m\ntaking leave now,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Irma admitted she wants to take advantage of this moment to enjoy the\natmosphere of Ramadan with family, including ngabuburit (spending time\ntogether in the evening before breaking the fast) and hunting for takjil\n(refreshments to break the fast) with her younger siblings.<\/p>\n
