E. Timorese get loans<\/p>\n
DILI, East Timor (JP): The state oil and gas company Pertamina
\nis providing Rp 298.5 million (some US$135,374) in soft loans for
\nsmall-scale businesses and cooperatives in this province to help
\nimprove their financial structures.<\/p>\n
Agreements on the loans were signed by Pertamina's head for
\nproduction and procurement activities in the province, Mahdi A.
\nHasjmy, and representatives of the small businesses and
\ncooperatives, Jeremias Soares and Juliana da Costa Soares, in a
\nceremony here last week.<\/p>\n
Mahdi said that the loans will have a maturity of three years
\nand carry an interest rate of four percent per annum.<\/p>\n
\"The credits, which will be accompanied by technical
\nassistance, will be distributed to 27 small entrepreneurs and
\ncooperatives in East Timor,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He said Pertamina will use the funds from the loan repayments
\nas loans for other small businesses and cooperatives in the
\nprovince.<\/p>\n
Mahdi said Pertamina has thus far provided Rp 22 billion in
\nloans for small businesses and cooperatives in the province.
