Java labor meet deadlocked<\/p>\n<p>SURABAYA, East Java: The tripartite meeting between local<br>\nlabor unions, the local chapter of the Indonesian Employers<br>\nAssociation and the local manpower and transmigration ministry<br>\noffice was unable to determine the monthly regional minimum wages<br>\nin the province because several regencies had yet to lodge their<br>\nproposals.<\/p>\n<p>L. Pattiradjawane, representing local employers, said the<br>\ntripartite meeting was adjourned until Surabaya, Mojokerto,<br>\nMalang and Gresik regencies had lodged their proposals.<\/p>\n<p>\"We want the four regencies to submit their proposals to the<br>\nlocal wages commission so that the province can announce the<br>\nminimum wages next week. The office would then have two weeks to<br>\npublicize the new minimum wages to all employers in the<br>\nprovince,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>B.H. Pasaribu, a member of the local wages commission, said<br>\nmost regencies hade proposed a hike in the monthly minimum wage<br>\nto Rp 443,000 from the current Rp 385,000. --Antara<\/p>",
