E. Java labor meet deadlocked<\/p>\n
SURABAYA, East Java: The tripartite meeting between local
\nlabor unions, the local chapter of the Indonesian Employers
\nAssociation and the local manpower and transmigration ministry
\noffice was unable to determine the monthly regional minimum wages
\nin the province because several regencies had yet to lodge their
\nproposals.<\/p>\n
L. Pattiradjawane, representing local employers, said the
\ntripartite meeting was adjourned until Surabaya, Mojokerto,
\nMalang and Gresik regencies had lodged their proposals.<\/p>\n
\"We want the four regencies to submit their proposals to the
\nlocal wages commission so that the province can announce the
\nminimum wages next week. The office would then have two weeks to
\npublicize the new minimum wages to all employers in the
\nprovince,\" he said.<\/p>\n
B.H. Pasaribu, a member of the local wages commission, said
\nmost regencies hade proposed a hike in the monthly minimum wage
\nto Rp 443,000 from the current Rp 385,000. --Antara<\/p>",
