Councillors<br>\ncurrently take home an average of about Rp 4.7 million.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was made during the closing session of the budget<br>\ncommission.<\/p>\n<p>Initially there were proposals to double the salaries, but it<br>\ngot such a negative reaction from the public that it was decided<br>\nto reduce the increase.<\/p>\n<p>East Java Governor Imam Utomo expressed surprise that<br>\nlegislators demanded such a hefty increase.<\/p>\n<p>\"Come on.
