E. Jakarta ready for 'Adipura' award<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The East Jakarta Mayoralty is ready to work hard
\nto retain the Adipuira award for cleanliness from the government,
\nsaid Mayor Sudarsono.<\/p>\n
In his speech at the commemoration ceremonies for National
\nSocial Solidarity Day in Pinang Ranti subdistrict on Wednesday,
\nthe mayor said that his office has prepared programs for river
\ncleaning and regreening projects next year.<\/p>\n
Antara reported yesterday that city forest regreening programs
\nwill also be enhanced.<\/p>\n
East Jakarta received the Adipura award for cleanliness this
\nyear.<\/p>\n
The mayor said that by November of this year almost 360,000
\ntrees have been planted in the implementation of the city forest
\nplan. \"The target was only 250,000 trees,\" he said. \"Next year
\nany empty spaces belonging to the mayoralty will have trees.\"<\/p>\n
He said that the mayoralty took sanitation problems very
\nseriously, citing weekly community self-help programs to clean up
\nneighborhoods.<\/p>\n
\"The mayoralty also cooperates with three firms in dealing
\nwith garbage collections in five areas which produce at least 700
\ncubic meters of garbage everyday,\" the mayor said. (sur)<\/p>",
