Dutch firms cooperate in public works sector<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Several Dutch companies with interests in the
\ntransportation and public works sectors have clinched deals with
\nlocal government offices and state-owned firms to conduct
\nfeasibility studies, consultancy services and joint venture
\noperations.<\/p>\n
Representatives of the companies were among those who joined a
\nvisiting delegation of Dutch businessmen, led by Minister of
\nTransport, Public Works and Water Management, Annemarie
\nJorritsma-Lebbink.<\/p>\n
Jorritsma-Lebbink told a press conference yesterday that at
\nleast three firms were scheduled to sign memorandums of
\nunderstanding with their Indonesian counterparts during the
\ncurrent visit.<\/p>\n
The companies are E.T. Projects, specializing in education and
\ntraining, and its partner, P.v.Tilburg-Bastianen Revisie B.V.,
\nwhich specializes in engineering works; Holec Ridderkerk, a
\nmanufacturer of electrical control and drive systems for
\ntransportation purposes; and Dynamar Consultancy BV, which
\nspecializes in the maritime sector.<\/p>\n
A director of E.T. Projects, Joost A.I.M. Vorstenbosch, said
\nhis company, in collaboration with Tilburg-Bastianen and their
\nIndonesian partner, PT Boma Bisma Indra -- a state-owned firm
\noverseen by the Management Board for Strategic Industries (BPIS)
\n-- will conduct a feasibility study on the conversion of heavy
\nduty diesel-fueled vehicles to gas-fueled vehicles.<\/p>\n
BPIS, which oversees 10 companies, is chaired by State
\nMinister of Research and Technology B.J. Habibie.<\/p>\n
Vorstenbosch said the feasibility study will cost about
\n500,000 to 1 million Dutch guilders (US$300,000 to $600,000).<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Holec Ridderkerk's president, J. Holthaus, said his
\ncompany is exploring the possibility of setting up a joint
\nventure with its Indonesian counterpart, PT LEN Industri,
\nanother state-owned firm managed by BPIS, to participate in the
\nrailway industry.<\/p>\n
The planned venture will involve the construction systems for
\n32 electric trains to serve the greater Jakarta area.<\/p>\n
He declined to elaborate on the project's value but said it
\nmight cost "several hundred million guilders".<\/p>\n
Dynamar Consultancy will conduct maritime training programs
\nand in-house consultancy services for the Ministry of
\nTransportation.<\/p>\n
Jorritsma-Lebbink said yesterday the project, which will
\nmainly focus on human resource development, will cost around $36
\nmillion.<\/p>\n
She was scheduled yesterday to meet with Minister of
\nTransportation Haryanto Dhanutirto and Coordinating Minister for
