The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) has confirmed that fuel stocks and supplies for railway operations are secure and adequate throughout the Eid holiday travel period in 2026. The agency conducted field inspections in Semarang and Yogyakarta to verify fuel reserves at terminals, with diesel stocks capable of sustaining 15 days of supply, and confirmed sufficient LPG and jet fuel for both public use and airport operations. BPH Migas also highlighted a used cooking oil collection programme at petrol stations as part of efforts to develop green energy alternatives from sustainable sources.

Jakarta — The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) has
stated that fuel stocks and supplies for railway operations are in safe
condition and sufficient to meet demand throughout the Eid holiday
travel period in 1447 Hijri.

Bambang Hermanto, a member of the BPH Migas Committee, stated in
Jakarta on Sunday that fuel requirements for railway operations during
Eid are estimated to increase in line with the rise in train
journeys.

“We have held discussions and listened to presentations from PT KAI
(Persero) as well as PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and PT Patra Logistik. The
stocks to face Eid 2026 have been declared safe and under control,” he
said following a visit to PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operations
Area (Daop) 6 Yogyakarta in the Special Region of Yogyakarta on Saturday
(14 March).

The official explained that peak consumption of subsidised railway
fuel in Daop 6 Yogyakarta is estimated to occur on 18, 23 and 24 March
2026.

BPH Migas also reviewed the readiness of facilities and
infrastructure as well as services in the railway environment. From the
inspection results, facility conditions were found adequate to handle
the surge in passengers during the Eid period.

“The facilities and infrastructure appeared sufficiently good. The
service is good, friendly, and the locations are quite clean and
well-organised,” he said.

Daop 6 Yogyakarta is the operational centre for railways connecting
Yogyakarta and Solo with various other cities on the island of Java. The
operational area encompasses several major stations including Tugu
Station, Lempuyangan, Klaten, Solo Balapan, Purwosari and Solo
Jebres.

The visit was also attended by Baskara Agung Wibawa, another member
of the BPH Migas Committee, and Rahim Ramdhani, Deputy of Daop 6 KAI in
Yogyakarta.

Monitoring fuel and LPG supplies

BPH Migas also ensured the reliability of fuel and LPG supplies
through field visits in Semarang, Central Java on Friday (13 March) and
Yogyakarta on Saturday (14 March).

“Diesel stock resilience at the Integrated Terminal Semarang can last
up to 15 days, and LPG supplies are also secure. Therefore, I urge the
public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, as the stock reserves at
this terminal are sufficient to meet demand,” said Hermanto.

From the visits, petrol stations were found with facilities for used
cooking oil (UCO) collection machines. The machine, provided by
Pertamina, enables the public to sell used cooking oil which Pertamina
will then purchase at approximately Rp5,500 per litre.

The used cooking oil is then processed into alternative fuel for
motor vehicles and aircraft. The programme also supports the development
of environmentally friendly energy, as the feedstock comes from palm
oil.

“Used cooking oil made from palm oil demonstrates that the fuel we
have is fuel that meets green energy requirements,” he added.

Meanwhile, Baskara Agung Wibawa, another member of the BPH Migas
Committee, stated that LPG and jet fuel supplies are confirmed to be in
safe condition. Pertamina Patra Niaga has prepared sufficient supplies
to meet the needs of the public and aircraft in Yogyakarta during the
2026 Eid period.

“LPG availability is sufficient for the people of Yogyakarta. For jet
fuel, both for New Yogyakarta Airport and Adi Soetipto Airport,
Pertamina Patra Niaga has also made preparations, so the reserves are
adequate for both the outbound travel and return journey during Eid,”
said Baskara.

The field visits to Semarang and Yogyakarta were also attended by
Fanda Chrismianto, Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga
Java (PPN) Central Region, and Arief Zarkashi, Sales Branch Manager of
PPN Yogyakarta Fuel Division.
",
