        "content": "<p>Dukono Volcano in North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, erupted on\nMonday (1 June) at 05:40 WIT. The Center for Volcanology and Geological\nHazard Mitigation (PVMBG) reported an ash column reaching approximately\n900 metres above the peak, or 1,987 metres above sea level. The ash was\nobserved as white to grey with thick intensity, drifting eastward. The\neruption was recorded on seismograms with a maximum amplitude of 34\nmillimetres and duration of 39.08 seconds. \u201cThe eruption is ongoing as\nthis report is being prepared,\u201d PVMBG stated.<\/p>\n<p>PVMBG maintains the volcano\u2019s status at Level II (Alert), advising\nthe public and tourists not to approach the Malupang Warirang crater\nwithin a 4-kilometre radius. Residents are also urged to prepare masks\nor nose and mouth coverings to protect against volcanic ash hazards to\nthe respiratory system.<\/p>\n<p>The volcano is one of Indonesia\u2019s most active, with periodic\neruptions requiring ongoing adherence to geological authorities\u2019\nrecommendations.<\/p>\n<p>A content creator, Anak Esa, has been named a suspect in a fatal\nincident at Dukono Volcano that resulted in three climbers\u2019 deaths,\nincluding two foreigners.
