Timika, Central Papua (ANTARA) \u2013 Coordinating Minister for Political\nand Security Affairs Dudung Abdurachman has stressed that development in\nPapua must be comprehensive and reach people at the grassroots\nlevel.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a working visit to Timika, Mimika Regency, Central\nPapua, on Tuesday, Dudung said the visit was intended to reinvigorate\ncoordination and collaboration between local governments, the Indonesian\nMilitary (TNI), the National Police (Polri) and all stakeholders to\naccelerate development in Papua.<\/p>\n
\u201cPresident of the Republic of Indonesia has directed that\ndevelopment, particularly in Papua, must be comprehensive and reach the\ngrassroots. This is what I am here to ensure. My task is to coordinate\nall relevant institutions and assess developments in the region,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Security is one of the key factors in supporting and ensuring that\nall development processes in Papua proceed smoothly.<\/p>\n
Dudung also urged all task forces and TNI-Polri personnel serving in\nPapua to carry out their duties and responsibilities by putting the\npublic interest above personal or group interests.<\/p>\n
\u201cBe loyal to the Red and White [the national flag]. The TNI and Polri\ncome from the people, are by the people and are for the people;\neverything must therefore be based on the people\u2019s interests. Be\nsoldiers who put the public interest above the interests of any group,\u201d\nDudung said.<\/p>\n
He also encouraged task forces and TNI-Polri personnel to adopt a\npeople-centred approach and engage all elements of society in working\ntogether to make Papua more advanced and successful.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is the message from the President that I need to convey. I hope\nthat, going forward, local governments, the TNI-Polri and all related\nparties will share a common purpose: serving the Red and White, the\nnation and the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
During his visit to Mimika, Dudung also held a coordination meeting\nwith the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the\ngovernor, regents and TNI-Polri officials.<\/p>\n
He visited the Merah Putih Village\/Sub-district Cooperative (KDKMP)\nin Limau Asri Timur, SP 5, Iwaka District, and gave a briefing to Papua\ntask-force personnel and the Third Joint Defence Regional Command\n(Kogabwilhan III) at the headquarters of Infantry Battalion 754\/Eme Neme\nKangasi.<\/p>\n
