PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI) will focus on regulating
commodity export records to secure national foreign reserves and
strengthen the rupiah’s exchange rate. This measure is a long-term
solution to consolidate export data and recover national wealth lost due
to under-invoicing and transfer pricing practices by certain parties.
Through trade administration reforms, the government is committed to
establishing transparent, accountable, and traceable commodity
governance from upstream to downstream, ensuring business certainty for
market participants. Fithra Faisal, Senior Expert at the Indonesian
Communication Board, stated that President Prabowo Subianto has been
addressing under-invoicing concerns for the past 18 months. Internal
cabinet studies indicate an estimated Rp15.4 trillion loss in national
wealth from 1991 to 2024 due to these practices. The loss equates to 64%
of Indonesia’s current GDP of Rp24 trillion. ‘With more orderly
record-keeping, we can potentially add 0.8 percentage points to economic
growth,’ Fithra said in a written statement on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
He added that the government has been implementing consolidation efforts
over the past six months to ensure DSI operates professionally.
‘Therefore, we have established an export consolidation mechanism, which
has empirical precedents in countries such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia,
Malaysia, and India,’ he explained. The initiative is expected to add
$44 billion to foreign reserves and strengthen the rupiah to Rp16,900
per US dollar. SOE analyst Toto Pranoto from the University of Indonesia
cited Ghana’s successful establishment of a dedicated cocoa export body
to enhance global market competitiveness.
",
