        "content": "<p>Drug raid nets policeman, prosecutor<\/p>\n<p>Apriadi Gunawan, The Jakarta Post, Medan<\/p>\n<p>Medan Police were questioning on Wednesday a prosecutor and<br>\npolice officer who were arrested separately a day earlier on drug<br>\ncharges.<\/p>\n<p>The two drug suspects are Rajali, 45, a prosecutor with the<br>\nMedan Prosecutor's Office, and Second Adj. Insp. Iskandar, an<br>\nofficer attached to the North Sumatra Provincial Police's drug<br>\nsquad.<\/p>\n<p>The chief of the Medan Municipal Police's drug squad, Comr.<br>\nKumbul, said on Wednesday that Rajali was arrested on Tuesday<br>\nnight along with two accomplices, Abdul Muas, 32, and Jeini, 29.<br>\nThe police seized a half kilogram of dry hashish and a small<br>\npackage of crystal amphetamine during the arrests.<\/p>\n<p>Kumbul said that the police first arrested Jeini on Jl.<br>\nKatamso, and he then led the officers to Rajali and Abdul Muas.<\/p>\n<p>Jeini told the police later on that the drugs, which he<br>\nintended to sell to the public, belonged to Rajali and Abdul<br>\nMuas.<\/p>\n<p>During police questioning on Wednesday, Rajali confessed that<br>\nthe drugs were his, but that he intended them for personal use.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Iskandar, a police officer, was also arrested on<br>\nTuesday night along with two accomplices, Suhadi, 40 and Tohri,<br>\n33. They were apprehended while consuming drugs in a house on Jl.<br>\nGunung Mahameru, Medan city.<\/p>\n<p>During the raid, the police seized four small plastic packages<br>\ncontaining crystal amphetamine, three aluminum foils and other<br>\ndrug-taking paraphernalia.<\/p>\n<p>Like Rajali, Iskandar told the arresting officers that he<br>\nintended the drugs for personal consumption.<\/p>\n<p>\"Despite what they said, we will investigate their respective<br>\nroles in these drug cases,\" said Kumbul.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the arrest of Rajali, North Sumatra Prosecutor's<br>\nOffice spokesman J. Ketaren said that his office would not<br>\nattempt to protect the arrested prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>He further said that if Rajali was convicted, he would be<br>\ndismissed from the service.<\/p>",
