A joint team from the National Police Criminal Investigation\nDepartment (Bareskrim Polri) and the Lhokseumawe Customs and Excise\nOffice arrested a marijuana courier named Herizal Hasballah in Nagan\nRaya Regency, Aceh. The suspect attempted to deceive officers by hiding\nthe illicit goods in the bushes.<\/p>\n
The arrest took place at Km 2, Blang Puuk Village, Beutong Ateuh\nBanggalang District, Nagan Raya, on Sunday, 26 July 2026, at\napproximately 5.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, led by Senior\nCommissioner Handik Zusen and Senior Commissioner Kavin Leleury.<\/p>\n
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crime at\nBareskrim Polri, explained that the arrest stemmed from public\ninformation regarding marijuana distribution destined for Lhokseumawe\nCity. Officers then conducted surveillance at the suspected transaction\nlocation.<\/p>\n
\u2018On Sunday, 26 July 2026, at around 5.30 p.m. WIB, the\nSub-Directorate IV team together with Lhokseumawe Customs managed to\nsecure one suspect who was waiting for someone to hand over marijuana in\nBlang Puuk Village, Beutong Ateuh Banggalang, Nagan Raya, Aceh,\u2019 said\nBrigadier General Eko in a statement on Monday, 3 August.<\/p>\n
When apprehended, suspect Herizal initially denied carrying\nnarcotics. However, officers were not convinced and proceeded to search\nthe area where the suspect was standing.<\/p>\n
\u2018After the team conducted a search of suspect Herizal Hasballah and\nthe surrounding area where he stood, namely in the bushes, the team\nfound a grey Elgini brand bag containing six packages of dried\nmarijuana,\u2019 Eko revealed.<\/p>\n
After the evidence was presented, the suspect finally admitted that\nhe had deliberately placed the bag containing 6 kg of marijuana in the\nbushes to avoid detection by residents while waiting for the recipient,\nknown as Bagek, who is now on the wanted list.<\/p>\n
Based on interrogation results, suspect Herizal admitted to obtaining\nthe goods from a supplier named Sipon, who is also on the wanted list.\nHe was promised a fee of Rp 200,000 for a single delivery.<\/p>\n
\u2018Suspect Herizal Hasballah admitted to having worked three times\ndelivering marijuana to Bagek,\u2019 Eko added.<\/p>\n
Further investigation revealed that suspect Herizal is a repeat drug\noffender who escaped from prison in 2018.<\/p>\n
\u2018The suspect Herizal is a former convict in a 3-kilogram marijuana\ncase, sentenced to 8 years in prison, serving his sentence at Lambaro\nPenitentiary in Banda Aceh. Suspect Herizal also admitted that six\nmonths before his sentence was due to end, he escaped from Lambaro\nPenitentiary, around November 2018,\u2019 he explained.<\/p>\n
In this operation, police seized evidence including 6 kilograms of\ndried marijuana, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle. Eko stated that his\nparty is still conducting further investigations to locate marijuana\nfields in the region.<\/p>\n
The economic value of the marijuana evidence is estimated to reach Rp\n24,361,680.
