Drug convict soap actor caught with drugs<\/p>\n

That which is hard to believe could happen in real life can
\nalways be seen in local TV soap operas, or in the lives of the
\nactors.<\/p>\n
Soap opera actor Ibrahim Solahuddin, 32, aka Ibra Azhari, had
\nalmost two years of his 15-year drug conviction remaining when
\nthe Jatinegara Police found several grams of shabu-shabu (crystal
\nmethamphetamine) in his cell at Cipinang Penitentiary, East
\nJakarta, during a regular search last week.<\/p>\n
Ibra denied that the drugs belonged to him, the Jakarta Police
\nrevealed on Friday, but a urine test by the National Narcotics
\nAgency (BNN) came back positive.<\/p>\n
According to Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani, Ibra
\nmay have to spend longer in prison for the infraction.<\/p>\n
\"He will get at least five more years. The additional years
\nwill automatically be added to his 15-year jail term. We are
\npreparing the case file to be submitted to prosecutors,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Firman said that Ibra would remain at the penitentiary and
\nthat police officers would visit to interrogate him.<\/p>\n
He said his officers were questioning other people who were in
\nthe cell with Ibra when the search was conducted.<\/p>\n
\"We are also investigating the syndicate that supplies drugs
\nin the prison,\" he added.<\/p>\n
Police arrested Ibra in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Aug.
\n31, 2000, and found over nine grams of putaw (low-grade heroin)
\nin his possession.<\/p>\n
He was originally sentenced as a drug dealer to 15 years in
\nprison by the South Jakarta Court on Oct. 15, 2003.<\/p>\n
The case accentuates the fact that even prison bars cannot
\nstop drug trafficking. Several other prisoners have been caught
\nwith drugs in earlier cell searches.<\/p>\n
Also last week, police caught a convicted drug dealer,
\nidentified as Daeng Mansyur Amade, with two grams of heroin
\ninside his cell in Cipinang Penitentiary.<\/p>\n
Last year, police discovered a drug syndicate, led by a
\nconvict identified as Rahman, inside the penitentiary after
\npolice arrested several of Rahman's men handling transactions
\noutside.<\/p>\n
The biggest prison drug trafficking case broke in June 2003,
\nwhen the police found that two African nationals -- Nwaolisa
\nHansen Anthony and George Obinya -- controlled an international
\ndrug network worth around Rp 800 million per month from inside
\nCipinang Penitentiary.<\/p>\n
However, no firm action has been taken by law enforcers to
\nstop drug trafficking in the prison, which is under the
\njurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.<\/p>",
