Sumatra<\/p>\n<p>PADANG, West Sumatra: Batusangkar in Tanah Datar regency was<br>\nparalyzed on Tuesday when some 300 public transportation drivers<br>\nstaged a strike to air their grievances against ojek (motorcycle<br>\ntaxis) operating in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The lack of public transportation forced students and<br>\nemployees to walk to their schools and offices.<\/p>\n<p>The striking public transportation drivers accused the ojek<br>\ndrivers of breaking a previous agreement banning the motorcycle<br>\ntaxis from operating during the day. The agreement, signed by<br>\nrepresentatives of the local office of the Land Public<br>\nTransportation Agency and the police, stipulates that ojek are<br>\nnot allowed to operate between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Regency Secretary Sultani Wirman promised to settle the<br>\ndispute. &quot;If necessary we will issue a bylaw to regulate public<br>\ntransportation.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Another strike was staged by public transportation drivers in<br>\nSolok, the capital of Tanah Datar.
