For quite some time, truck drivers like us have been asked for
\nmoney if we have to pass the weighing stations at Waraduwur and
\nWeru in Cirebon district, West Java. If we refuse to give in to
\nthese demands, life is made difficult for us, like being fined
\nfor an overload of 10 kilograms.<\/p>\n
The same applies to vehicle testing where a fee of Rp 70,000
\nis demanded, more than ten times the official Rp 6,000 fee.<\/p>\n
A \"go-between\" in the vehicle testing business gave us the
\nbreakdown of the exorbitant fees: Rp 40,000 for registration; Rp
\n5,000 for testing; Rp.3,000 for knocking down; Rp 2,000 for
\npainting, Rp 5,000 for emptying the fuel tank; Rp 4,500 for the
\nOrganda public transport organization and many more.<\/p>\n
At the office of the Directorate of Transportation and
\nHighways (DLLAJ), in Majalengka district, we were made to pay
\nRp 45,000 (no brokers). We were once scolded by an official of
\nthe DLLAJ when we made inquiries about the high cost of these
\nfees.<\/p>\n
