        "content": "<p>DPR Speaker Puan Maharani has urged the government to evaluate the\ndeployment of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) in conflict areas after\nthree soldiers were killed while serving on a peacekeeping mission in\nsouthern Lebanon. The three fallen soldiers were Major Infantry Anumerta\nZulmi Aditya Iskandar, Kopda Anumerta Farizal Rhomadhon, and Serka\nAnumerta Muhammad Nur Ichwan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe government should evaluate the assignment of TNI soldiers in\nconflict areas,\u201d said the PDI Perjuangan politician at the DPR complex\nin Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The evaluation of TNI assignments in conflict areas must be based on\ninternational best practices, encompassing mission clarity, mandates,\noperational readiness, and maximum protection for personnel. Puan\nstressed that United Nations peacekeeping operations demand political\nreadiness, capacity, and an operational environment.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the DPR has called on the UN to conduct a credible\ninvestigation to uncover the cause of the three TNI deaths in Lebanon.\n\u201cThis effort is grounded in the core principles of UN peacekeeping\nmissions, namely transparency, accountability, as well as respect for\ninternational law and human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Separately, DPR Commission I Chairman Utut Adianto stated that the\ngovernment should not withdraw troops in order to honour the global\npeacekeeping mission as mandated by the constitution. The PDI Perjuangan\npolitician noted that the deployment of peacekeeping forces is not\nintended for warfare, which is why the Indonesian military\nparticipates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce we are committed there, we must not withdraw; it is best not to\npull out because we are also fulfilling the preamble by contributing to\nworld peace.
