        "content": "<p>JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives (DPR RI) Yulius Setiarto has called for genuine\ntransparency in the trial of the acid-throwing case against KontraS\nactivist at the Military Court, not just a formality.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded that public scrutiny of the case handling is inseparable\nfrom issues of transparency and potential impunity, as the perpetrators\nare active TNI members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my view, the military court must ensure that the entire process\nruns openly to the public in a substantial manner, not merely\nadministratively,\u201d Yulius stated to Kompas.com on Thursday\n(16\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Yulius emphasised that access for journalists, independent monitors,\nand civil society must be guaranteed without irrelevant\nrestrictions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my view, transparency is not just about procedures, but the\nprimary prerequisite for building public trust that the legal process is\nobjective, non-selective, and free from interference,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Yulius reminded the state to guarantee protection for\nthe victim, family, and witnesses who will provide testimony in the\ntrial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI assess that the state has an absolute obligation to ensure the\nsafety of Andrie Yunus, his family, and the witnesses who will provide\ntestimony in the trial,\u201d Yulius stated.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, Yulius continued, the role of the Witness and Victim\nProtection Agency (LPSK) is very important to ensure there is no\nintimidation or pressure that could affect the judicial process.<\/p>\n<p>For information, the case file involving four TNI soldiers with the\nstatus of BAIS TNI members has been transferred to the Jakarta Military\nCourt II-08 on Thursday (16\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Military Prosecutor II-07 charged the four TNI soldiers\nwith multiple articles.<\/p>\n<p>The charges applied include:<\/p>\n<p>Article 469 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of\nLaw Number 1 of 2023 with a maximum prison threat of 12 years as the\nprimary charge; Article 48 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20\nletter c with a maximum of 8 years as the subsidiary charge; Article 467\nparagraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) in conjunction with\nArticle 20 letter c with a maximum of 7 years as the next subsidiary\ncharge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis case file has met the formal and material requirements so that\nwe can process it and it becomes the prosecutor\u2019s opinion minutes and\nthe legal opinion letter from the Chief Military Judge,\u201d stated the Head\nof Jakarta Military Prosecutor II-07, Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) Andri\nWijaya, during a press conference at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on\nThursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The cardboard box was carried by two TNI members to be handed over to\nthe court as part of the trial process.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the case file, the Military Prosecutor also submitted\nevidence, the suspects, and eight witnesses consisting of five military\nmembers and three civilians.<\/p>\n<p>This case involves four BAIS TNI soldiers, namely Captain Nandala Dwi\nPrasetia (NDP), First Lieutenant Sami Lakka (SL), First Lieutenant Budhi\nHariyanto Widhi (BHW), and Sergeant Edi Sudarko (ES).<\/p>",
