        "content": "<p>Deputy Chair of Commission V of the DPR from the Gerindra faction,\nDanang Wicaksana Sulistya, has appreciated the government\u2019s step to\ncover the increase in flight costs for Hajj pilgrims this year.\nAccording to him, this policy demonstrates President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s\nconcern for prospective Hajj pilgrims.<\/p>\n<p>This increase in flight costs occurs alongside the surge in avtur\nprices and fluctuations in the rupiah exchange rate, which exert\nsignificant pressure on the Hajj flight financing structure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAirlines such as Garuda Indonesia have proposed an increase of up to\nRp 974.8 billion, while Saudi Airlines reaches Rp 802.8 billion,\u201d said\nDanang in his statement on Tuesday (14\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Danang explained that in aggregate, the Hajj flight costs have risen\nfrom Rp 6.69 trillion to Rp 8.46 trillion, an increase of Rp 1.77\ntrillion. Nevertheless, he emphasised that the government has taken\nstrategic steps to ensure this increase is not passed on to the\npilgrims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlhamdulillah, the President has emphasised that this surge in costs\nmust not be burdened on the Hajj pilgrims. This is a form of the state\u2019s\ncommitment to maintaining the affordability of the Hajj pilgrimage for\nthe community,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Commission V of the DPR RI has also expressed its support for the\npolicy. They hope that coordination between the government, airlines,\nand other stakeholders continues to be strengthened to ensure the Hajj\npilgrimage runs smoothly and efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf,\nrequested approval for the Hajj financing source of Rp 1.77 trillion.\nThis was conveyed during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the\nDPR on Tuesday (14\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn aggregate, the total costs have surged from Rp 6.69 trillion to\nRp 8.46 trillion, an increase of Rp 1.77 trillion.
