        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2013 The DPR RI Hajj Oversight Team (Timwas) has\nreceived multiple complaints from Indonesian pilgrims regarding\nfacilities in Mina, Saudi Arabia. Complaints include malfunctioning air\nconditioning and insufficient water supply amid dense crowds during the\npeak Hajj rituals.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We have received various inputs regarding facilities in Mina. Issues\ninclude malfunctioning air conditioning, insufficient water supply, and\nother challenges arising from the high density of pilgrims in a very\nlimited area,\u2019 said Marwan Dasopang, Chairman of DPR RI\u2019s Commission\nVIII and Timwas member, in a press release on Saturday (30 May\n2026).<\/p>\n<p>Millions of pilgrims from various countries gather in Mina for\novernight stays and the stoning of the devil ritual. The PKB politician\nexplained that the area\u2019s limited capacity has restricted pilgrims\u2019\nmovement, affecting their comfort during the rituals.<\/p>\n<p>However, Marwan stressed that the Mina issues must not recur without\nlong-term solutions. \u2018We must start considering new formulas. If the\nMina area cannot be expanded, options such as tiered tents or other\nschemes that allow more spacious and humane accommodation for pilgrims\nshould be considered,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the DPR Hajj Oversight Team is pushing for optimising\nthe tanazul scheme, which involves arranging some pilgrims to stay in\ndesignated hotels to reduce congestion in Mina. Marwan estimated around\n60,000 of Indonesia\u2019s 201,000 Hajj attendees could be accommodated in\nhotels under proper arrangements. \u2018Of the approximately 201,000\nIndonesian pilgrims, around 60,000 could be accommodated in hotels with\nappropriate arrangements in line with regulations. If implemented, this\nwould significantly ease space constraints in Mina for those remaining\nin tents,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Mina issue must not be allowed to recur without solutions. We\nmust boldly seek breakthroughs to enhance the comfort and safety of\nIndonesian pilgrims,\u2019 Marwan stated.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these issues, Marwan acknowledged that overall, this year\u2019s\nHajj arrangements have proceeded smoothly, with initial stages and peak\nrituals following the schedule. \u2018Overall, the Hajj arrangements have\nbeen good. We should appreciate the efforts of all parties providing\nservices to pilgrims. However, conditions in Mina remain the primary\nchallenge,\u2019 he concluded.<\/p>",
