        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Vice Chair of Commission VII of the Indonesian\nHouse of Representatives (DPR RI), Evita Nursanty, has requested that\ngovernment-owned broadcasting institutions not only combat hoax\ninformation but also actively educate the public to filter information\nbefore sharing it.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, she noted, much of the information on social media\nconsists of disinformation, misinformation, or hoaxes. She added that\nopinions arising on social media are even beginning to overshadow\nfacts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople find it very easy to just share, share, and share news; it is\nthat simple. They must be able to filter existing news before they share\nit,\u201d Evita stated at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must ensure they do not become provoked first, only for\neverything to be corrected after the fact,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>She believes that government-owned broadcasting institutions have a\nsignificant role to play in correcting false information before it\nspreads through society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the role of public information institutions; they are\nexpected to provide proper education to the community and promote media\nliteracy,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>",
