        "content": "<p>The chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Habiburokhman, has\naffirmed that information circulating about a Presidential Letter\n(Surpres) to the DPR RI concerning the replacement of National Police\nChief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is untrue, in other words a hoax.\nHabiburokhman called on the public to act wisely and not be swayed by\nunverified strategic issues in order to prevent public commotion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to clarify that it is not true that there is a Presidential\nLetter to the DPR RI concerning the replacement of the National Police\nChief,\u201d said Habiburokhman in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday\n(5\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The politician from the Gerindra Party faction explained that\nCommission III of the DPR RI had carried out a careful internal review.\nIn addition, the leadership of the DPR RI had also confirmed directly\nwith the State Secretariat and the Presidential Palace to verify the\ncirculating issue of a Surpres on the replacement of the National Police\nChief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results of our checks show that there was indeed no submission\nof a Presidential Letter concerning the replacement of the National\nPolice Chief. The leadership of the DPR RI has also sought confirmation\nfrom the relevant parties at the Palace, and the result was the same: no\nsuch Surpres exists,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Habiburokhman expressed hope that this certainty would put an end to\nthe rampant speculation circulating in society. He urged the public to\nalways prioritise official information that is valid and\naccountable.<\/p>\n<p>Under the constitutional mechanism, the appointment and dismissal of\nthe National Police Chief requires the President to submit a Surpres to\nthe DPR RI, to be processed through a fit and proper test in Commission\nIII before being put to a vote in a Plenary Session.<\/p>",
