The Chairman of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, Said\nAbdullah, stated that the redirection of the free nutritious meals (MBG)\nbudget is entirely the government\u2019s authority. Said made this remark in\nresponse to a request from a student in Kudus, Central Java, who wished\nfor the MBG budget allocation to be redirected to support his less\nprosperous teachers.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the aspect of programme implementation, that is the government\u2019s\ndomain; the authority is certainly no longer with the DPR,\u201d said the\nIndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle politician at the Parliamentary\nComplex in Jakarta on Monday, 6 April 2026.<\/p>\n
Said did not comment extensively on the mechanism for redirecting the\nMBG budget for teachers\u2019 welfare as proposed. He left the decision to\nthe government. \u201cThe government is welcome to make the best policy,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Said explained that he, along with the DPR Budget Committee\nleadership, had discussed the MBG implementation with the Head of the\nNational Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, and his deputy, Sony\nSanjaya, at the DPR building on Monday, 6 April 2026. The closed meeting\ndiscussed the progress of the MBG implementation, which has been running\nfor more than a year.<\/p>\n
Said appreciated the National Nutrition Agency because the number of\nnutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG) established has reached 26,000\npoints. However, he noted that some MBG kitchens do not yet meet\nfeasibility standards, causing problems.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency has a strong\ncommitment to resolving governance enforcement aspects. In fact, the\nHead of the National Nutrition Agency stated that many coordinate points\n(SPPG) have been revoked, and some have been suspended for not\nimplementing SOPs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to Said, Dadan also explained that the National Nutrition\nAgency has saved a budget of Rp20 trillion after the programme was set\nto apply for five school days. He supported that decision.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must have the same sensitivity to various fiscal pressures. Let\u2019s\nshare the burden and sharpen priorities,\u201d Said stated.<\/p>\n
A vocational high school student in Kudus sent a letter to President\nPrabowo Subianto requesting that his MBG allocation be redirected as\nadditional welfare for teachers.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Rafif Arsya Maulidi, an 11th-grade student at SMK NU\nMiftahul Falah in Kudus, stated that he refuses to receive MBG benefits.\nHe hopes that the budget allocation can be used to help teachers whom he\nconsiders still not prosperous.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf possible, the funds that should be allocated for me could be\nredirected as additional allowances for my teachers,\u201d Rafif said when\nasked for confirmation on Thursday night, 2 April 2026.<\/p>\n
Rafif admitted to feeling sorry seeing the direct condition of some\nteachers today. Especially teachers at his school who continue to teach\nwith dedication, even though their welfare is not yet adequate.<\/p>\n
He then simply calculated the value of the MBG benefits he would\nreceive until graduation, around Rp6.75 million.
