Jakarta (ANTARA) - DPD RI Speaker Sultan B Najamudin has said that\nevery President of the Republic of Indonesia is a statesman with\ntangible achievements during their term in office.<\/p>\n
\u201cAllow us to pay our respects to the nation\u2019s former leaders. Every\npresident of this republic is a statesman,\u201d Najamudin said in his\nopening address at the 2026 Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint\nSession of the DPR-DPD RI at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on\nFriday.<\/p>\n
He noted that Indonesia\u2019s first president, Soekarno, was the Father\nof the Proclamation; the second president, Soeharto, was the Father of\nDevelopment; and the third president, B.J. Habibie, was the Father of\nTechnology.<\/p>\n
He continued that the fourth president, Abdurrahman Wahid, was the\nFather of Pluralism; the fifth president, Megawati Soekarnoputri, was\nthe Heroine of the Constitution; the sixth president, Susilo Bambang\nYudhoyono, was the Father of Peace; and the seventh president, Joko\nWidodo, was the Father of Infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery leader has carved out their historical role. One common thread\nhas always been present: stronger regions and a more sovereign\nIndonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On the occasion, Najamudin expressed appreciation for the government\nunder the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President\nGibran Rakabuming Raka, whom he described as cohesive and complementary\nin upholding the nation\u2019s dignity.<\/p>\n
\u201cAppreciation for various programmes oriented towards national\neconomic independence amid the uncertainty of global geopolitical\ndynamics,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
On Friday, the MPR RI, DPR RI, and DPD RI held the Annual Session of\nthe MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI-DPD RI, one of the\nagendas of which was President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s address for the\ndelivery of the performance reports of state institutions and the State\nAddress of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in commemoration\nof the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of\nIndonesia. In addition to the speech, the government will also screen a\nvideo of government performance achievements.<\/p>\n
