        "content": "<p>Bengkulu (ANTARA) - DPD RI Chairman Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin has\nchampioned 500 units of Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS)\nfor substandard homes in Bengkulu Province for the 2026 fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year we have fought for 500 housing renovation units for\nBengkulu Province, and it is a reality,\u201d said Sultan Bachtiar Najamudin\nvia electronic message in Bengkulu on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that beneficiary families would be determined through a\ncoordination process between district governments and the Sumatra IV\nHousing Provision Implementation Agency to ensure proper targeting in\naccordance with applicable criteria.<\/p>\n<p>The housing renovation programme is implemented through the Ministry\nof Housing and Settlement Areas in cooperation with the Sumatra IV\nHousing Provision Implementation Agency and the Bengkulu Province\nHousing Provision and Settlement Area Development Working Unit.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sultan, synergy and collaboration between institutions\nare key to accelerating development, particularly in addressing\nsubstandard housing in Bengkulu.<\/p>\n<p>He said the 2026 BSPS programme represents the initial phase of a\ncommitment that continues to be fought for on behalf of the region, with\nlarger follow-up targets in subsequent years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the initial phase in 2026, we have proposed 500 units, then in\n2027, we are pushing for a proposal of 3,000 substandard housing units\nin Bengkulu Province. This is part of the fruits of our efforts as\nrecipients of the people\u2019s mandate \u2014 there must be tangible benefits,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Sumatra IV Housing Provision\nImplementation Agency, through the Head of Bengkulu Province Housing\nProvision Working Unit, Rinaldi, stated that the BSPS programme is part\nof the National Strategic Programme of Three Million Homes.<\/p>\n<p>The programme represents the government\u2019s effort to accelerate the\nhandling of substandard housing in Bengkulu Province through stimulant\nsupport for low-income communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis self-help housing stimulant assistance is a form of government\nsupport for low-income communities to improve the quality of or\nconstruct housing on a self-help basis founded on the principle of\nmutual cooperation, so that communities can realise habitable homes,\u201d\nsaid Rinaldi.<\/p>\n<p>Commitment-Making Official for Self-Help Housing and Settlement Area\nDevelopment, Wahyono, stated that the central government is present to\nimprove the quality of previously uninhabitable homes to habitable\nstandard with reference to proper building construction\nrequirements.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the assistance provided amounts to Rp20 million per\nhouse, used for the purchase of building materials and payment of labour\nwages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, in accordance with the instructions of President of the\nRepublic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and the direction of Minister of\nHousing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, the BSPS programme should\nserve as tangible proof that the government is present to improve the\nquality of people\u2019s lives through habitable, healthy, and safe\ndwellings, so that substandard housing can be properly addressed,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>",
