        "content": "<p>Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Library and Archives Service of the Special\nRegion of Yogyakarta (DPAD DIY) continues to promote the enhancement of\nliteracy culture through the development of a digital-based library in\nthe form of \u201cTitik Baca\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe presence of Titik Baca is one strategy to increase public\nreading interest amid technological developments,\u201d said the Head of the\nLibrary Materials Development and Information Division of DPAD DIY, Dewi\nAmbarwati, during the Titik Baca socialisation at TKIT Omah Lintang,\nBanguntapan, Bantul, on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, the Titik Baca programme is part of efforts to\nfacilitate public access to reading materials.<\/p>\n<p>She hopes that the facility can be optimally utilised by the public\nand its reach expanded throughout the DIY region this year.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Chairman of Commission C of the DIY Regional People\u2019s\nRepresentative Council, Amir Syarifudin, assessed the programme as a new\ninnovation relevant to the times, particularly in directing mobile phone\nuse towards more productive activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis programme is a new initiative that we can provide to the\nyounger generation to appreciate using mobile phones for reading,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Amir also urged the central government to pay more attention to the\neducation sector, including considering policies to eliminate taxes on\nbooks for primary school to university students.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinator of the Library Unit of the Faculty of Medicine, Public\nHealth, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM, Sukirno, highlighted the still low\nliteracy levels in Indonesian society compared to developed\ncountries.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned several influencing factors, including limited book\naccess, economic conditions, and digital distractions. \u201cBook access is\nuneven in our society, limited only to big cities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that strengthening literacy needs support from various\nelements, from schools and communities to government policies.<\/p>\n<p>Director of PT Enam Kubuku Indonesia, Ari Kustanto, as the developer\nof the digital library, said the Titik Baca innovation is one effort to\naddress these challenges by providing easier access to digital reading\nfor the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy simply scanning a QR Code, the public can directly access various\ndigital books, curated videos, and other literacy information,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the available content has undergone curation,\nmaking it safe and child-friendly, and users can also enjoy additional\nfeatures such as streaming radio and literacy-based information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis latest innovation from DPAD DIY has the concept of bringing\ndigital reading materials closer to the public. It is placed in various\nlocations and will eventually be available at 46 points in Bantul,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>",
