        "content": "<p>Dozens of non-Muslim participants have registered for and\nparticipated in the 2026 National Selection for State Islamic Religious\nUniversities (UM-PTKIN). This phenomenon serves as evidence that state\nIslamic campuses in Indonesia are becoming increasingly popular among\npeople of various faiths and are viewed as inclusive educational\nspaces.<\/p>\n<p>The UM-PTKIN 2026 National Selection was held simultaneously from\n8\u201314 June 2026 via the Zoom platform, spanning 59 examination centres\nacross Indonesia. This year, a total of 64,479 participants were\nrecorded taking the entrance examination for State Islamic Religious\nUniversities (PTKIN).<\/p>\n<p>The Chairperson of the National Committee for PTKIN Student\nAdmissions, Prof.\u00a0Abd Aziz, revealed that UM-PTPK participants are not\nexclusively from Muslim backgrounds. There were 20 non-Muslim\nparticipants recorded in this year\u2019s examination, including 17 Christian\napplicants, two Catholic applicants, and one applicant from a\nfaith-based belief system (Kepercayaan Terhadap Tuhan Yang Maha Esa),\naccording to a press release on Monday (8\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the participation of individuals from various\nreligious backgrounds demonstrates that PTKIN has evolved into a safe,\nopen, and equitable learning environment for all citizens.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to non-Muslim participants, the 2026 UM-PTKIN also saw a\nsignificant number of participants with disabilities. A total of 43\ndisabled participants took part in this year\u2019s selection, comprising 11\nvisually impaired, eight hearing impaired, seven physically disabled,\nand 17 individuals with intellectual disabilities. \u201cWe are ensuring that\nall examination locations provide the best facilities and accessible\nenvironments for them,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>Prof.\u00a0Abd Aziz also noted that this year\u2019s UM-PTKIN possesses an\ninternational dimension. One of the selection participants originated\nfrom Papua New Guinea, expressing interest in pursuing higher education\nin Indonesia through the PTKIN pathway. \u201cFurthermore, in this year\u2019s\nsession, we are also proud that there are international students,\nincluding one from Papua New Guinea, participating in the UM-PTKIN\nselection to undertake studies in Indonesia,\u201d he stated.<\/p>",
