        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 The Jakarta Central District Government has carried out\nenforcement operations against dozens of illegal structures along Jalan\nKebon Kacang 30, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The enforcement action began on Monday, 9 March 2026 and continued\nthrough Tuesday, 10 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Tanah Abang District Head Dwiarti Indriani Utami stated that 31\nillegal structures had been demolished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe demolition from Monday until today stands at 31 structures. The\ndata has not yet been updated. 31 illegal structures,\u201d Dwiarti said when\nencountered at Jalan Kebon Kacang 30 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>All structures erected on the footpath were demolished.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dwiarti, the demolition had been publicised since the\nprevious week, allowing traders to become aware that they could no\nlonger operate behind Plaza Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no relocation to other areas, because we do not recommend\nit. They were trading illegally without permission, building without\nauthorisation,\u201d Dwiarti explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when we restored the space to its proper function, they had to\naccept it. Because we did not demand anything from them,\u201d she\ncontinued.<\/p>\n<p>Dwiarti revealed that illegal parking attendants (jukir) at the site\npreviously expressed resistance to the enforcement operation.<\/p>\n<p>The parking attendants stated that illegal parking behind Plaza\nIndonesia had been a source of income for them for years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is also shock therapy for them, a surprise that they can no\nlonger seek additional income,\u201d Dwiarti explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was even some negative feedback to us, but we have managed it\nso far. So we are focusing on driving them out for now, still on\ndeterrence,\u201d she said.<\/p>",
