        "content": "<p>Jakarta, VIVA \u2013 The Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Executive\nAgency, Dony Oskaria, has emphasised that food security is not merely\nrhetoric but a tangible reality. He highlighted groups still doubting\nfood self-sufficiency, despite its concrete implementation being\ndirectly carried out by state-owned enterprises in the food sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany claim that self-sufficiency is a lie. Those saying it\u2019s a lie\nmight be hallucinating. Bulog is under my oversight, and the goods\n(related to rice self-sufficiency) are genuinely there. Today, I even\nhave to inject another Rp39 trillion into Bulog because it must purchase\nthe people\u2019s harvest,\u201d Dony stated firmly in a video excerpt from his\nspeech at a Pertamina event this week.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dony, the massive increase in national rice production\nis evident from the increasingly limited storage capacity. \u201cWe (Bulog)\nare still building warehouses today. We\u2019re even short of warehouses.\nCurrently, we\u2019re renting warehouses,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Dony explained that the government believes a nation\u2019s sovereignty is\nlargely determined by its ability to stand on its own, particularly in\nthe food sector. \u201cOur conviction is that a sovereign nation is one with\nthe capability to be self-reliant, especially in the field of food,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Dony elaborated that food self-sufficiency is a collaborative process\nundertaken by ministries and agencies under the direct guidance of\nPresident Prabowo. Several technical ministries, such as the Ministry of\nAgriculture, and state-owned enterprises in the food sector are\nsynergising to implement concrete programmes. One of them is the\ndevelopment of new paddy fields in various regions.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Dony said, the government is also improving irrigation\nsystems, lowering fertiliser prices through changes in business models\nand distribution, and ensuring the sustainability of agricultural land\nby limiting land-use conversions.
