        "content": "<p>Donut employees bite back<\/p>\n<p>SURABAYA: About 120 employees from 16 Dunkin' Donuts outlets<br>\nhere staged a peaceful strike on Wednesday demanding the<br>\nresignation of personnel manager Herlawan W.D.P.<\/p>\n<p>According to one of the protesters, Dedi Susanto, they were<br>\ndissatisfied with Herlawan, who allegedly dismissed 35 employees<br>\nin the last eight months without clear reasons or proper<br>\ncompensation.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported that dismissed workers were given between Rp<br>\n700,000 and Rp 740,000 in severance.<\/p>\n<p>The employees demanded that the U.S. franchise company also<br>\nimprove their wages.<\/p>\n<p>They threatened to continue their strike into the new year if<br>\ntheir demands were not met.<\/p>\n<p>A representative of the company, operational director Alex<br>\nSandro Wayong, invited employees to discuss the matter but his<br>\noffer was refused.<\/p>",
