PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has introduced a passenger-friendly policy allowing those who miss their Whoosh high-speed train due to late gate arrival to reschedule without additional fees, provided they claim within 15 minutes of departure. This measure aims to ease anxieties amid the high volume of Lebaran 2026 travellers, with free rescheduling to the next available slot on the same day or a 25% discount for a different day if seats are sold out. The policy underscores KCIC's commitment to punctuality while accommodating the surge in multimodal transport use during the holiday period.

The dynamics of Eid al-Fitr 2026 homecoming and return flows at
Whoosh high-speed train stations are often marked by incidents of
passengers missing their trains. In response, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia
China (KCIC) assures that tickets for late passengers do not
automatically expire but can be rescheduled without additional
costs.

KCIC Corporate Communication Manager, Emir Monti, emphasised that
passengers who fail to board due to gate closure will be directed
straight to the ticket counter staff. This policy is implemented to
provide peace of mind amid the high volume of homecomers this year.

“We direct passengers to the counter for rescheduling. The ticket
does not expire and can be moved to the next schedule as long as
availability remains,” said Emir at the KCIC Station, East Jakarta, on
Wednesday (25/3).

However, there are rules to follow. Emir explained that claims for
schedule changes apply only up to a maximum of 15 minutes after the
departure time stated on the ticket. If this time limit is exceeded, a
different procedure will apply.

For the first schedule change, passengers will not be charged any
fees, meaning it is free. The challenge arises if all seats on the same
day are already fully booked (sold out), given the high public interest
during the Lebaran 2026 period.

“If not available on the same day, it can be rescheduled to another
day with a 25 percent deduction in accordance with the applicable
policy,” added Emir.

KCIC reminds that operational procedures are still enforced strictly.
Departure gates will close exactly 5 minutes before the train’s
scheduled departure. This firmness is to maintain the punctuality of the
high-speed train journey, which is Whoosh’s main advantage.

Emir urged homecomers to calculate travel time to the station to
avoid getting stuck in the usual congestion during the Lebaran period.
“Time discipline is key to ensuring a comfortable and smooth high-speed
train journey,” he concluded.

Data shows that this year’s homecoming movement has increased, with a
total of 9.04 million passengers and a strengthening trend in multimodal
transport usage.
",
