Don't demolish Puncak kiosks, please<\/p>\n
The Bogor Police have ordered the removal of kiosks, stalls
\nand workshops along the road in Puncak, Cisarua\/Megamendung
\ndistrict, as well as those in the parking lot of the Atta'Awun
\nMosque in Cisarua, by no later than April 9. Otherwise, personnel
\nfrom Bogor regency will pull down the structures themselves.<\/p>\n
After inquiring about the matter, the Bogor regency
\nadministration explained that the order was based on an
\ninstruction from the President. If this is true, the instruction
\nis to be regretted.<\/p>\n
While the country is facing natural disasters like those in
\nAceh and Nias, the demolition order will result in government-
\ncaused suffering to local people who make a living from these
\nkiosks and stalls to support their families.<\/p>\n
Pulling down the kiosks in Puncak will increase the rates of
\npoverty, unemployment, criminal activity and school dropouts.
\nFarmers and taxpaying companies whose products are sold at these
\nstalls will also be adversely affected.<\/p>\n
Therefore, we humbly request that the President cancel the
\norder to demolish kiosks and stalls along the road in Puncak, so
\nas to maintain the peace and the business atmosphere in this
\ntourist zone.<\/p>\n
