Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto jokingly remarked that\nhe would prefer to be called \u201cBang Bowo\u201d or \u201cMas Bowo\u201d by the extended\nfamily of the National Mandante Party (PAN), rather than being addressed\nas \u201cMbah\u201d or \u201cEyang\u201d.<\/p>\n
Prabowo made the humorous remark during his speech at the 28th\nanniversary commemoration of PAN in Jakarta on Friday night, while\ndescribing his closeness to the party\u2019s large family.<\/p>\n
He stated that while he was formally present in his capacity as\nPresident, within such a familial atmosphere, he would prefer to be\nregarded as a brother or an elder brother.<\/p>\n
\u201cI stand here as your brother. I would prefer to be considered your\nbrother, your elder brother, rather than your grandfather,\u201d said\nPrabowo.<\/p>\n
Prabowo then listed several forms of address that he believed the PAN\nfamily could use to call him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like it if you call me Bang Bowo. Be careful if you call me Mbah\nBowo or Eyang Bowo,\u201d he said, which was met with laughter from the\naudience.<\/p>\n
Prabowo even joked that he would not return to PAN events if\naddressed with such titles.<\/p>\n
\u201cI won\u2019t come back to PAN if you call me that. Bang Bowo is okay,\nKang Bowo is okay,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n
He noted that the title \u201cKang Bowo\u201d could also be used, particularly\nby the Sundanese people.<\/p>\n
However, among the various options, Prabowo admitted he preferred the\nname \u201cMas Bowo.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt feels better if called Mas Bowo. Watch out if you call me Aki,\u201d\nhe said, prompting further laughter from the attendees.<\/p>\n
The jokes regarding these titles emerged as Prabowo compared the age\nof PAN with the Gerindra Party.<\/p>\n
Prabowo noted that PAN is 28 years old, whereas Gerindra is 17 years\nold.<\/p>\n
He also mentioned having many friends within PAN since before joining\nGerindra, stating that these friendships were built on shared values of\nstruggle.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is true that we met and became friends because of values, because\nof the values of struggle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The preference for the title \u201cMas Bowo\u201d was previously expressed by\nPrabowo in December 2023 during his presidential campaign.
