The House of Representatives (DPR RI) has passed the revision of the\nLaw concerning the Third Amendment to Law Number 2 of 2002 regarding the\nNational Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Police Bill). This\ndecision was reached during the 21st plenary session of the fifth\nmeeting period for the 2025-2026 session.<\/p>\n
The meeting was held in the plenary hall of the Nusantara II\nBuilding, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (9\/6\/2026). The\nratification took place during the second-level discussion agenda, which\nwas attended by government representatives and the Chief of the\nIndonesian National Police, Listyo Sigit Prabowo.<\/p>\n
The session was presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI,\nSufmi Dasco Ahmad, alongside Deputy Speakers Saan Mustopa, Cucun Ahmad\nSyamsurijal, and Sari Yuliati.<\/p>\n
Initially, Dasco invited the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR,\nHabiburokhman, to present the report on the results of the first-level\ndiscussions regarding the Police Bill. Following the report, Dasco\nrequested the participants\u2019 approval to ratify the bill into law.<\/p>\n
\u201cIs the Bill concerning the Third Amendment to Law Number 2 of 2002\nregarding the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia approved to\nbe enacted into Law?\u201d asked Dasco.<\/p>\n
\u201cAgreed,\u201d replied the session participants, followed by the striking\nof the gavel to signify ratification.<\/p>\n
Previously, Commission III of the DPR and the government discussed\nthe list of problems (DIM) regarding the Police Bill. All factions\nwithin Commission III expressed their agreement to bring the bill to the\nplenary session.<\/p>\n
The first-level meeting was held in the Commission III meeting room\nat the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (8\/6). The\nPolice Bill contains several provisions, including regulations regarding\nthe retirement age of National Police members.<\/p>\n
\u201cArticle 30, paragraph 5, point c shall read: \u2018Specifically for\nfour-star high-ranking officers, the retirement age is a maximum of 60\nyears and may be extended by one year or as required, as determined by a\nPresidential Decree,\u2019\u201d stated Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights,\nEddy Hiariej, during the same session.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe addition is \u2018or as required, as determined by a Presidential\nDecree\u2019,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, there are other changes, including Article 2 regarding\ntransitional provisions for retirement age. The provisions for\nretirement age at the time the Police Law comes into effect are as\nfollows:<\/p>\n
The retirement age for members of the Indonesian National Police,\nas referred to in Article 30, paragraph 5, applies to members of the\nIndonesian National Police who are 56 years old at the time this Law\ncomes into force.<\/p><\/li>\n
Members of the Indonesian National Police who are 57 years old at\nthe time this Law comes into force shall have their retirement age\nextended until they reach 59 years of age.<\/p><\/li>\n
