Donations for SEA Games<\/p>\n

The Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) basically supports
\nthe SEA games events. As usual, however, the committee is in need
\nof funds. As a result, money is collected, which the public
\nmajority has raised objection to because of the amount of the
\ndonations and the way they are collected.<\/p>\n
YLKI hopes that SEA Games XIX events will be held within the
\ngovernment's budget. We do not need to throw money into its
\npreparation, such as building an ultramodern athletic village and
\nusing cars for athletes and officials. Because of this, YLKI
\nfeels that it should say the following:<\/p>\n
* YLKI questions the constant collection of money through
\nseveral departments -- Telkom, PLN, PDAM, entertainment centers
\n-- under the pretext of the future SEA Games XIX.<\/p>\n
* Donations for SEA Games are voluntary in nature. The public
\nshould not be forced to pay up. Departments responsible for
\ncollecting fees should respect the public's rights and keep fees
\nwithin compliance. Collection should not be automatic.<\/p>\n
* And if the public has to pay fees, the act should be legally
\nimplemented so that the public just pays once, it should not
\nongoing as it is now.<\/p>\n
* This sort of fee is one-sided in nature. This means that the
\npurpose of the fees is not openly disclosed to the public. Use of
\npublic funds should be audited by a public accountant, which
\nshould be published to prevent misuse of these funds.<\/p>\n
