        "content": "<p>Dokarim awards Martin Aledia<\/p>\n<p>Azhari, Contributor, Banda Aceh<\/p>\n<p>Writer Martin Aleida, a native of Tanjung Balai, North<br>\nSumatra, was conferred an award from the Dokarim creative writing<br>\nschool on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n<p>The Dokarim award is given to non-Acehnese writers for<br>\ncontributing literary work toward humanity during the war in<br>\nAceh.<\/p>\n<p>The jurors of the award were: A.A. Manggeng, Azhari, Fozan<br>\nSanta, Nezar Patria, Reza Idria and Wiratmadinata.<\/p>\n<p>Head juror Wiratmadinata said Martin&apos;s three short stories<br>\nKesaksian Ganja Kering Basah Air Mata (Marijuana testimony wet<br>\nwith tears), Untuk Anwar Suaedy (For Anwar Suaedy), Tolong...<br>\nBawalah Murni, Bapak Aceh (Please, take Murni, Mr. Aceh) showed<br>\nthe author&apos;s sympathy toward the Acehnese and their plight.<\/p>\n<p>Wiratmadinata said Martin had identified the Acehnese as<br>\nseekers of justice who went to war not to win or lose, but for a<br>\ngreater cause of humanity.<\/p>\n<p>At the award ceremony, Martin said, &quot;Here (in Aceh), I<br>\nwitnessed those in power give up because of their own behavior.<br>\nBut pity those in power, because if they extend a hand to the<br>\npeople, to the destitute and the homeless, it will be rejected --<br>\nbecause the people know that with this help also comes decades of<br>\nintimidation.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the award, the school also commemorated 15 students<br>\nwho had completed its six-month creative writing program.<\/p>",
