Doctor accused of malpractice<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: A woman reported her doctor from Siloam Gleneagles
\nHospital in Karawaci to the Tangerang police for alleged malpractice
\nsaying improper medicine caused her to have a miscarriage.<\/p>\n
Irma Effendi, 37, a resident of Serpong, said on Friday that
\nshe had the miscarriage three months into her pregnancy after
\nbeing treated at the hospital for two days with an unrelated
\nailment.<\/p>\n
\"I took medicine prescribed by the doctor, but I felt
\nsomething was wrong on the second day of treatment at the
\nhospital,\" she said.<\/p>\n
Shortly thereafter she had a miscarriage.<\/p>\n
\"The miscarriage is unacceptable and I am sure that the doctor
\nhad made the wrong diagnosis of my illness,\" she asserted.<\/p>\n
Siloam Gleneagles' operations manager, Andre, denied the
\nallegation, arguing that Irma's weak physical condition was the
\ncause of the miscarriage.<\/p>\n
He claimed that medicine prescribed was based on diagnoses in
\naccordance with the patient's health condition.<\/p>\n
\"If the miscarriage occurred because of the medicine, I think
\nit was an unexpected occurrence,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He claimed that the hospital management had met with Irma four
\ntimes to explain the incident.<\/p>\n
