The DKI Jakarta provincial government plans to extend the Jakarta LRT network to Ancol in North Jakarta once the extension from Pegangsaan Dua to Manggarai station becomes operational by late 2026 or early 2027. Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated there are two options for the next phase: extending from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas, or connecting through Tanjung Priok's Jakarta International Stadium to reach Ancol.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government will extend the Jakarta Lintas
Raya Terpadu (LRT) network currently operating from Veledrome Station to
Pegangsaan Dua Kelapa Gading Station to reach Ancol area in North
Jakarta.

“We have two extension options for the Jakarta LRT following the
completion of the extension from Pegangsaan Dua Kelapa Gading Station to
Manggarai Station,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo on
Sunday.

According to him, construction of the Jakarta LRT from Pegangsaan Dua
Station in Kelapa Gading District to Manggarai Station is expected to be
completed by late 2026 or early 2027. “We will conduct final meetings on
the construction to connect to Manggarai, and it should be operational
next year,” he stated.

Two Options Under Consideration

Once this phase is completed, there are two options: either extending
from Manggarai Station to Dukuh Atas Station, or connecting the Jakarta
LRT from Manggarai to Kelapa Gading and onwards to Ancol. “The route
will pass through JIS Station in Tanjung Priok and the Ancol area,” said
Pramono.

Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), located in Tanjung Priok
District, is an international-standard stadium that hosts
international-level football matches and home games for Persija Jakarta.
Additionally, JIS frequently hosts international concerts that attract
large audiences from Jakarta and across Indonesia, necessitating
reliable mass transportation access.

Earlier, Dian, a North Jakarta resident, expressed hope that the
Jakarta LRT could be extended to residential areas further from the city
centre. “North Jakarta already has several public transport options such
as TransJakarta and KRL, but if the Jakarta LRT can reach areas far from
the city centre, certainly more people would abandon private vehicles,”
she noted.

Meanwhile, Indra, a worker in Sudirman area in Central Jakarta,
stated that extending the LRT route could be a concrete solution to
alleviate daily congestion on the capital’s main traffic arteries. “If
access becomes wider and integrated, people will think twice about
bringing their own cars. This must be supported,” he said.

According to him, route expansion should prioritise areas with high
mobility demand such as business districts, education centres, and
office areas. He also emphasised that alongside expanding routes, the
public is pushing for stronger integration between different transport
modes. “Seamless connections between different transport systems are
considered key to the success of the mass transit system,” said
Indra.
",
