        "content": "<p>JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has confirmed that electric\nvehicles will no longer be entirely exempt from Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB)\nand Motor Vehicle Re-Registration Tax (BBNKB), following the issuance of\nMinister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 11 of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The regulation changes the previous scheme, which provided full\nexemptions, into a policy that gives room for local governments to\ndetermine the amount of incentives, either in the form of reductions or\nexemptions.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that his administration is\ncurrently preparing derivative regulations to adapt the policy at the\nlocal level.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, electric vehicles have so far received various\nfacilitations, from tax exemptions to exemptions from odd-even traffic\nrestrictions, so future policies need to be formulated in a more\nbalanced manner.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, opportunities for incentives remain open because the\nregulation provides flexibility to local governments to determine\npolicies according to their respective conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor those that are exempted, we will exempt 100 percent, but for\nthose that are charged, we will reduce and so on. That is what we will\ndecide soon,\u201d Pramono said.<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) previously stated that\nit is currently designing an optimal fiscal incentive scheme for\nelectric vehicles so as not to burden the public.<\/p>\n<p>The policy is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government\u2019s efforts to\nmaintain regional economic stability amid global economic pressures,\nwhile still encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles in\nsociety.<\/p>",
