The Chair of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Nova Harivan Paloh, has stated that political parties' participation in the naming rights programme for TransJakarta bus stops could significantly enhance the city's original local revenue (PAD). This comes amid a substantial Rp 15 trillion cut in Jakarta's revenue-sharing funds (DBH) from the central government, prompting efforts to explore new income sources. Nova emphasised that such involvement should adhere to regulations, maintain public aesthetics, and be conducted on a paid basis similar to commercial advertising to avoid political campaigning concerns.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Chair of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta
DPRD, Nova Harivan Paloh, believes that the involvement of political
parties in the transport stop naming rights programme could increase DKI
Jakarta’s Original Local Revenue (PAD).

According to Nova, the current stop naming scheme has proven to be
one of the sources of regional income.

Therefore, he stated that there is no issue with political parties
participating, as long as they comply with applicable regulations.

He explained that the naming rights programme has been implemented on
several stops in the TransJakarta network.

The value of the naming cooperation varies, depending on the location
and level of busyness.

In fact, said Nova, naming rights can reach billions of rupiah for
strategic locations.

Nova added that this policy aligns with the DKI Jakarta Provincial
Government’s efforts to seek new revenue sources, especially after
Jakarta’s Revenue-Sharing Funds (DBH) were cut by around Rp 15 trillion
by the central government.

“You know how our DBH this year has been cut, around Rp 15 trillion,
which is huge. We are looking for ways to find sources of PAD,” he
said.

Nevertheless, Nova reminded that the implementation of naming rights
should still pay attention to regulations and not disrupt public
facilities.

“The important thing is to remain in accordance with the rules and
not damage the aesthetics of public space,” he said.

Regarding public concerns about the potential for political
campaigning through stop naming, Nova considered it not to be an issue
as long as it is done officially and on a paid basis, similar to the
installation of commercial advertisements on videotron or
billboards.

“Go ahead, wherever it is. It’s the same as billboards now.
Billboards, for example, like the LED ones in several places,” he
said.
",
