        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The DKI Jakarta DPRD has highlighted several\nvulnerable railway crossing points that are deemed to require serious\nattention following the accident between the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train\nand the KRL Commuter Line in the Bekasi Timur Station area.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PDI Perjuangan Faction,\nHardiyanto Kenneth, assessed that safety evaluations should not merely\nfocus on post-incident handling but must address preventive aspects at\nvulnerable crossing points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not enough to rely solely on post-incident handling. There\nmust be a comprehensive evaluation from upstream to downstream,\nincluding the train journey control system and crossing supervision,\u201d\nKenneth told Kompas.com on Wednesday (29\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The area in question is said to have high risks if not monitored with\nan adequate system.<\/p>\n<p>Kenneth also urged the conduct of a transparent investigation to\nuncover the cause of the accident, while ensuring that preventive\nmeasures can be implemented comprehensively.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety of train passengers must be the top priority. This\nincludes updating signalling technology, improving infrastructure\nquality, and strengthening operational supervision systems,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery potential negligence must be anticipated with a robust system\nand high discipline from all parties,\u201d Kenneth stated.<\/p>\n<p>He also encouraged strengthening coordination between the central\ngovernment, local government, and train operators in efforts to prevent\nfuture accidents.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Kenneth appreciated the swift work of the SAR\nteam, medical personnel, and all parties involved in the evacuation\nprocess and victim handling.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno admitted that\nthere are still level crossings without guards in his region.<\/p>\n<p>He believes that the number of level crossings in Jakarta with\nofficial barriers is greater than those without.<\/p>\n<p>However, he emphasised the importance of ensuring whether those\ncrossings are also equipped with guards.<\/p>",
